Thiru Gnanasambandar’s Thiruneetru Padhigam, consists of 11 hymns in praise of the Sacred Ash Vibhuthi**, which is called Thiru Neeru (திருநீறு) in Thamizh. In these hymns, Sambandar sings the glory & grandeur of the Sacred Ash of the God of Aalavaai (Madurai), smearing which, the then Pandya king was miraculously cured of acute heat & burning disease which engulfed his whole body.
